Priorities

  • Public Safety

We all deserve to feel safe in our homes and neighborhoods. As county commissioner, I’ll support law enforcement and fully fund the County Sheriff’s office while exploring ways to reduce recidivism and address the trauma experienced by marginalized communities.

  • Climate

Our climate is our future. I’ll prioritize shutting down the HERC in the next 2-3 years, expanding public transit options, and making tangible progress toward zero waste. That could include giving all residents organic waste bins or taxing plastic bags.

  • Healthcare

We’re facing a healthcare crisis and frontline workers at HCMC are struggling. I don’t support returning full control to the county, but organized labor–nurses, medical assistants, techs, and other staff–should have direct representation on the HHS board.

  • Mental Health

Too many of our neighbors struggle on their own. It’s especially important to support LGTBQ+ young people, like trans kids, who die by suicide at significantly higher rates than the general population. I’ll fight to make mental health services more affordable, accessible, and culturally-sensitive.

  • Affordable Housing

Housing is out of reach for too many people. I’ll push for programs to increase homeownership in underserved communities, build more affordable housing, and ease the county’s property tax burden on low income seniors, who deserve to age in place.

  • Addiction

Opioid-related deaths have increased 240% in Hennepin County since 2019. That’s unacceptable. I’ll fight to improve access to naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and safe syringe services in our community while expanding effective treatment and prevention programs.
